Prior to coming to Open Door Ministries, I had been plagued for some time by both drugs and alcohol. For many years I tried in vain to keep these very personal problems secret from all but my closest friends; while attempting to resolve them on my own. However, each time I thought I might have a handle on them, these issues would again and again manifest themselves in more disturbing ways.
It was not until I sought help from Open Door Ministries that I was able to find relief from the bondage that had so weaved its way into the very fabric of my life. So engrossed were these afflictions in my daily activities that every aspect of my life was disrupted; from personal relationships, to working relationships, and most troubling, my relationship with my Lord and Savior.
“Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath: That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us: Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil”
Hebrews 6:17-19
However, at Open Door Ministries, I have been taught to deal with these and all of life’s problems the way God intended. Since coming to Open Door, first as a resident and now as staff, I’ve known hope for the first time in a very long time.
